The Dominican Republic participated in the Vienna Brand Gala with a stand where it showcased part of its exportable offerings while simultaneously informing attendees about the country’s advantages in terms of investment and tourism. Held on October 22, 2024, this event was organized under the auspices of Vienna’s Mayor and Governor, Michael Ludwig, the European Brand Institute, and several Latin American embassies. The Dominican representation, led by Her Excellency Ambassador Ángela Mariana Vigliotta Mella and Counsellors Félix De La Rosa and Ricardo Moreta, interacted with a high-level audience that included ambassadors from Mexico, Cuba, Ecuador and El Salvador, as well as influential business and institutional figures.
For the Dominican Republic, the Vienna Brand Gala served as a strategic platform to reinforce its nation brand. By featuring signature products—most notably Dominican rum—it sought to highlight its tradition of excellence, strengthen its positioning in European markets, and broaden awareness of other key export sectors that reflect the country’s high-quality standards and dynamic economic environment.
The identified opportunities begin with potential collaboration with the European Brand Institute to exchange best practices in branding, sustainability, and innovation. Additional opportunities include strengthening institutional alliances with the city of Vienna and its mayor, attracting investment from Austrian companies, and promoting and consolidating Dominican products—such as rum, cigars, and coffee—in the European market.
As follow-up actions, the Dominican Republic proposes formally reaching out to the European Brand Institute to explore partnerships and knowledge-sharing initiatives, as well as to Vienna’s City Hall to express appreciation and suggest future collaborations in tourism, sustainability, and culture. Further steps include organizing meetings with participating Austrian companies to explore investment and cooperation, and facilitating commercial and cultural exchanges to enhance the Dominican Republic’s brand presence.
The Embassy of El Salvador once again took part in the Vienna Brand Gala as part of the Brand Global Summit, as this provides an excellent opportunity to present the country's export products to the members and guests of this important event.
Among these products, Salvadoran coffee stands out, as well as the exquisite Cihuatán rum, which is produced in El Salvador and is particularly appreciated by Austrians.
On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the European Brand Institute, the Embassy of Ecuador in Austria had the honor of participating in the gala event held at the City Hall of Vienna, on October 22, 2024, with several stands that presented different flagship products emblematic of the country of Ecuador.
The invitees of the Gala, representatives of the commercial sector, civil society, academia and the diplomatic corps, had the possibility to taste Gutierrez coffee from the Vilcabamba Valley (https://cafegutierrez.sk), test natural products from the Ecuadorian Amazon (https://www.travnicek-produkty.sk), and try on the renowned Montecristi hats (https://www.giemmehat.com). They also received information on Ecuador's export offer, investment, and tourism portfolio.
Ecuadorian chocolate(https://www.hoganaschocolate.eu/), which uses fine aroma cocoa for its production, was also promoted. Participants were informed that several archeological studies show that the first traces of cocoa originated in the Ecuadorian Amazon more than 5,000 years ago and that exports of Ecuadorian cocoa - fine aroma - represent 65% of international trade in this niche market.
The European Brand Institute is the leading institution in Europe in research on intangible assets, the valuation of brands and patents and maintains a strong alliance with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), an international agency whose purpose it is to promote sustainable and inclusive industrial development of which Ecuador is a member and has an office in the city of Quito.
